Homeopathic medicines are prepared by a method of serial dilution, usually ‘centesimal’ or ‘C’ dilutions. These have been diluted one part original tincture to 99 parts water or alcohol. A 300 potency has gone through this process 300 times; a 200C has gone through this process 200 times, a IM 1000 times, and a 10M 10,000 times.
Homeopathic medicines can be administered in drops, grains, or globules. It is best to eat no food, alcohol, tea or coffee before taking the remedy and to not brush your teeth at that time. After a couple of minutes the remedy is absorbed and you can eat.
The pace of the reaction to a homeopathic medicine depends on the nature of the illness, whether it is an acute or chronic problem, and the vital energy of the patient. (‘Acute’ means of sudden onset and short duration‘Chronic’ means of long continuance, lingering.) The response to acute illnesses, physical or mental, is often seen within twenty-four hours. In chronic conditions, the response time may be longer. |
