Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbs medicines have been used for thousands of years to help people feel better and live longer, treating various illness and restoring normal body functions with proven effectiveness.

Chinese medicine is very different from the scientific approach we are used to. It does not limit its treatment to only one part of the body. Health is represented as a balance of yin and yang - two forces that represent the positive and negative, the deficiencies and excesses in natureChinese medicine aims to understand and treat the many ways in which the fundamental balance and harmony between the two may be undermined and the ways in which a person's Qi (‘chi) or vitality may be depleted or blocked. Treatment is therefore based upon patterns of signs and symptoms that reflect an imbalance.

Chinese medicine is a medical system that is capable of treating a very wide range of conditions. It consists mainly of herbal therapy and acupuncture, but can also employ dietary therapy, and exercises in breathing and movement (tai chi and qi gong) where appropriateBecause of its systematic approach and clinical effectiveness it has for centuries had a very great influence on the theory and practice of medicine in the East, and has grown rapidly in popularity in the West. It still forms a major part of healthcare provision in China, and is provided in state hospitals alongside western medicine.

Chinese medicine is successfully used for a wide range of conditions. Among the more commonly treated disorders are:

Skin diseases, including eczema, psoriasis and acne
Gastro-intestinal disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome, colitis and chronic constipation
Gynaecological conditions, including pre-menstrual syndrome, dysmenorrhoea and endometriosis
Chronic fatigue syndrome
Respiratory conditions, including asthma, bronchitis, coughs, rhinitis and sinusitis
Rheumatological conditions, including osteoarthritis and arthritis
Urinary conditions including cystitis
Psychological problems, including depression and anxiety
Some promising results have even been obtained for the treatment of Hepatitis C, and beneficial supportive treatment in the case of HIV.

Many of these conditions, especially in their chronic forms, create great difficulty for conventional medicine, whilst Chinese herbal medicine has a great deal to offer.
